Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th edition:
Beastman vs. Dwarfs - 3000pts.
Finally, they came. This had been going on for far too long. Sixty-nine days of ambushes, mischief, ill omens, fire, and blood have led to this very moment. Tasked by destiny, our leader Belegar Ironhammer of Karak Azgal has pledged to rid the plague of Beastman and their Warchief Khazrak One-Eye.
They would never commit to open warfare was it not for this unholy ruin, known as Gardbuk in the ancient tongue. On the first look of these ruins, he knew they are corrupted with old and foul magic. The merciless slaughter seen in these ravaged lands betrayed an evil purpose to these Beastmen, a dark agenda with greater intent than mere bestial fury. The attacks were too precise and coordinated on a level that he had never encountered before. Was it not for the Runepriest he would have never guessed that the agenda of these chaos abominations were the ruins he is now standing in. Rocks lay heavy with countless lives of man and dwarf alike. We should have razed this place to the ground with our cannons but then they wouldn't come in force and commit to an open battle. So here we are to banish these degenerate spawns of chaos from the world surface. He was no fool and knew that Khazrak needed the help of a powerful Shaman to channel the old magic that lies in this ruins, for what purpose he didn't know and didn't care. The only thing he knew at that moment was that he finally will draw blood. The horns are already ringing in his ears...so it begins a time of songs, a time of legends and a time of blood.

Both armies were deployed with the Dwarfs being the first to finish. The roll who goes first was a sight to be seen because both players scored a 6 on their dices. Dwarfs got the upper hand because of the bonus of +1 for the first deployment.
So the story begins.
Gyrocopters and Longbeards are moving to the Beastman throat, wanting to draw first blood as soon as possible and get rid of this taint.
Cannon shoots the Gorgon and unlucky deals only one wound to the foul beast.
The Organs shoot 18 times into the Bestigor herd and kill 4 of them straight away.
Gyrocopter used his steam cannon on the Gor Herd and killed 4 of them, the flesh boiled to the bone.
The Chariot, Razgor, Gores, Minotaurs, Bestigors, Gorgon, Centaurs, and Jabber are moving as close to the enemy as possible, drenched in the smell of blood.
For the foul magic, the Shaman is trying to cast Curse of Anrahel on the Organs but it has been dispelled by the Runepriest.
The second spell Wyssan's wildform was cast on the Bestigors and the Runepriest was unable to deny the magic this time.
So ends round one.
Again Gyrocopters and Longbeards are moving to adjust to the new situation of the Beastman being closer to their battle lines.
The cannon shoots the Gorgon inflicting 2 wounds.
Organs target the Bestigore Herd but none of the bullets was able to kill anything. A bad omen.
Ironwarden is shooting his Trollhammer Torpedo into the chariot and inflicts one wound.
Gyrocopters are hitting with their steam guns the Gor Herd killing 8 in total.
The Minotaurs, Gorgon, Centaurs, and Bestigores were charging the enemy lines but only the Gorgon succeed.
Jabba, Chariot and the Razgor are moving closer to the enemies on the flanks.
The Shaman cursed the Longbeards and no dispell was able to destroy this foul magic.
Belegar standing against the mighty Gorgon scores a blow to the ankles and inflicts 2 wounds.
The Gorgon, however, does not idle and kills 3 of the Longbeards with their frenzy swipes of blades attached directly to his bone.
Runesmith seeing his brother die attacks and scores a wound on this abomination of flesh.
Longbeards attack was furious but they were unable to hurt the beast.
The Gorgon roared and stomped to the ground with its mighty feet killing another 6 of the Longbeards.
The attack was devastating but the Dwarves were able to stand their ground...for now.
The Gyrocopters and Longbeards move again adjusting to the battlefield. Flying over the chariot the flying machine drops a bomb but unfortunately, it was unable to inflict any damage.
The Gores are boiled alive by the Gyrocopter that killed 2 of the chaos beasts.
The cannon seeing that the Razorgore is moving close to the Irondrakes tries to help their comrades but slightly misses its target.
Organ Guns fire at the Bestigor Herd killing this time 6 of their number. This put a little smile on the crew's faces.
Irondrakes send the Trollhunter torpedo into the chariot damaging the machine, and the rest of the brigade finished it off with their shooty weapons.
Belegar was this time unable to hit the might Gorgon but distracted the beast long enough so it was too occupied with him, not killing any of his brethren.
The Runesmith having enough of this charade channeled his might with his ancestor's help, slaying the beast.
Razorgore was able to charge the Irondrakes by the rear, Bestigores finally engaged the Ironbreakers, Doombull detached himself from his weakling group and charged hed on into the Longbeards. If this was bad news for the Dwarf an additional charge by the Centaurs was able to succeed.
Jabba and the Gores are closing in on the enemy but still unable to engage anything.
The Shaman channeled the winds of magic again and the Runepriest was helplessness this time. It seemed as if the Gardbuk Shrine was helping the beast in its sinister task. The Bestigors supernatural strength grew even further and their eyes were clouded with rage and bloodlust.
The Razorgore killed 2 Iron Drakes with their mighty tusks. The shock of this was so enormous that the Irondrakes were unable to inflict any wounds on the mutated pig. Fear was radiating through their ranks but they overcome it and reformed to surround the beast.
Doombulls bone breaking charge killed 1 Longbeard with the sheer impact that was followed by 5 additional deaths, after the mighty swing of this two-handed ax.
Hatred flowed through the sons Grungni and they hacked with their axes on the back of the beast but were unable to penetrate the beast armor. This foe was mighty indeed.
The Minotaur Lord enraged by this attack of little vermin's stomped with its hooves on the closest Dwarf shattering his bones and breaking his skull.
Khazrak shredded the face off the closest Dwarf with the slash of his iron whip as he fell to the ground screaming in pain...life fading from his eyes as he observed the massacre wrought on his brothers.
Bestigors hacked with their two-handed weapons killing another 15 Ironbreakers.
Dwarfs did not stand idle this time and lowered to the ground 8 of the creatures, penetrating their armor like a knife through butter.
The Centaurs poked with spears killing 2 Dwarfs and in retaliation 2 of their number have been slain...as they say an eye for an eye...
The pilot of the Gyrocopter found his courage to charge the Razorgore
Cannon fire thundered through the battlefield, ripping a hunk of meat from a Minotaur's arm. But even that didn't stop the beast from moving with great ferocity.
The second Gyrocopter cooked another 3 Gores alive which was the only fate they deserved thought the pilot of this brilliant machine. He was taking much pleasure in the screams he heard and wanted more.
Music of the Organ Gun salvo has been heard again, and 2 Gores were killed. Even the unholy wording of the Shaman could not help him and he has been wounded, shattering of one of his horns. That angered the old Shaman, but bestial instinct took the best of him and he started running. No shame in that if you are a feral animal.
Belegar with his Runesmith killed 2 centaurs and he spits, he could not get rid of this fouls taste the beasts left in their wake. Disgusting.
The Centaurs still hold their ground, but barely.
Khazraks blood boiled in his veins with true and utter hatred to these bearded rats and another 4 of the Ironbreakers fell dead to his feet. This pleased him.
The Bestigores followed up with 5 additional kills following their leader's example.
The Dwarfs swept with their weapons and slay 4 unholy creatures. Something did change in the air and fear crept into their hearts. Panic broke and a fall-back was ordered.
This opened a window in the defense and the Bestigors engaged the Organ Gun right away.
Doombull was enjoying this fight too well killing another 3 of the warriors trying to wound him.
They still hold the ground but he could smell their fear...a sweet, sweet look on the faces of lesser creatures trying not to be afraid.
Irondrakes on the other side of the battlefield were able to finally slay the mutated pig and they roared to the heaven their victory cries...oh how they were wrong.
The Beastman Shaman seeing the slaughter kept running and didn't turn back. “Next time, next time I will show them the powers of the Dark Gods!” he screamed into the sky...
Jabba seeing his small mutated pig friend being killed, charged the Gyrocopter which fled out of range. The Irondrakes were not so lucky and were surprised by the new encounter as the creature charged into them. Only the Ironwarden had time to shoot his Trollbreaker torpedo but missed on an inch.
The Irondrakes inflicted 2 wounds on the mutated abomination and from its foul body poisonous blood melted the face of the closest Dwarf. They knew that the beast of chaos was foul, but this was too much.
No one expected the massive creature to roll on his back and 3 Irondrakes were smashed to a pulp by the weight of the creature.
Doombull smiled as he annihilated another 7 Dwarfs. They were unable to strike back and knew this foe was too much to chew on.
Bestigores slaughtered the organ crew and overrun the escaping Dwarf Lord and Runesmith...such a terrible loss.
The Centaurs killed 2 Ironbreakers but retaliation followed swift and 3 of them fell to the dirty ground.
It was not possible for the creatures to hold their ground but these beasts were possessed with a higher power (Scoring double ones on the Leadership roles).
Gyrocopter has seen the fleeing Shaman and knew, the beast must die...he ran over the creature hearing only a faint scream as the propeller hacked the beast to pieces. “He didn't see that coming” bellowed the pilot.
The cannon crew in a desperate attempt to survive lowered the huge cannon point blank into the Bestigor Herd and shot. The beasts were annihilated and smashed to a pulp as the cannonball hit them. A smile ran across their faces as the smoke cleared and only minced meat remained.
Khazrak seeing what had happened with his elite didn't want to risk another eye, or more, and run to the forest planning revenge.
Jabba rolled again killing another 2 Irondrakes but they did not flatter. An epic display of years of warfare and training showing effectiveness (Leadership passes on two 1 by the Dwarfs)
Doombull in his blood rage slew 3 warriors and was getting bored of the helplessness of the little beard rats. They fled and he smashed them to pieces...finally.
Centaurs killed 2 more warriors and the fight continued...
Minotaurs finally found an enemy and charged the Ironbreakers.
The Irondrakes finally seeing they are unable to win the fight with the abomination fled. The creature seeing his dinner run away chased them and killed without showing any signs of mercy.
Doombull was on a killing spree and slaughtered 4 warriors, they could not stand and they could not kill this avatar of rage. The only hope the Dwarf had was to outrun the beast and we're sure they will succeed...they were wrong.
Belegar killed 2 Centaurs and only their Chief remained. He saw the beast filled with rage killing one of his men.
The Minotaurs were able to kill only 1 Dwarf and have seen one of their own been dragged to the ground and being butchered.
That was the end of the battle. Belegar sounded the alarm for his remaining troops to retreat. This was not a defeat he thought. His mission has been successful even when so many of his kin were killed and are now been devoured by these chaos spawns. They will be remembered...The Shaman has been slain on the battlefield and most of the Beastman retaliated into the wood seeking another prominent prophet that will be able to harness the powers, hidden in the ancient ruins.
Belegar knew he will be summoned again into the battlefield but for now....he was at peace.
He still didn't know what they were doing in the Gardbuk ruins, and he has seen the fire in the eyes of the slain Shaman...this would be really, really bad if the beasts would be able to channel the ancient magic. He already planned a small expedition that will destroy the place with demolition charges, but so did the Beast plan... TBC
